Here are some of the other successes C.A.S.I.U. had.
|
| 1) |
Auto Theft Prevention Authority: Many meetings within the industry and with members of the Provincial Government trying to get an ATPA working in the Province. We ran out of time with the calling of the Provincial election but will be pushing the new Government in 2004 for an ATPA plus better initiatives to reduce auto theft ands reduce Accident Benefit fraud. Be sure to read the full ATPA proposal elsewhere in the C.A.S.I.U. web.

| 2) |
Project AutoVu. This project to locate stolen autos using electronic licence plate readers actually started with the introduction of the electronics company to the Insurance Bureau by Tim Flynn of C.A.S.I.U.
|
| 3) |
C.A.S.I.U. hosted 3 special luncheons this year. Special guest speakers were Julian Fantino, Chief of Toronto Police, Stan Griffin CEO of the Insurance Bureau of Canada and Rob Sampson who was then MPP for Mississauga Centre.
|
| 4) |
287 people attended our Annual Fraud Forum hosted jointly with The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. This is one of the biggest and certainly the best conference of this type in Toronto.
|
| 5) |
C.A.S.I.U. continues to recognize members of the law enforcement community who have assisted the insurance industry by their actions. This years C.A.S.I.U. presented approximately 20 officers with plaques thanking them for their efforts on behalf of the insurance industry.
|
| 6) |
C.A.S.I.U. continually receives requests from the Law Enforcement community to assist them in securing equipment for special projects. We located everything from cell phones to automobiles. We even had a request from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to locate a high end car that could be used as a ‘bait vehicle’ for an investigation that the Marketplace TV program was doing into auto theft. Not surprisingly when no guarantee could be given that the car would be returned there was no response to the request.
|
| 7) |
Several times a year we provide training sessions about C.A.S.I.U. to the Toronto Police at their College. We hope that by explaining the work that our members do and getting the Officers to more easily recognize insurance fraud will make the our job easier and the Police more likely to contact us when they see potential insurance fraud in their investigations. |
| 8) |
A couple of times a year we host
social events for our members. These are
appreciation nights where we get together, put
faces to names, tell war stories and cut loose.
Best of all it’s a free night for our members. The
date will be announced at a later time.
